NATO Summit .

Ukraine, not NATO yet! but reap harvest of Arms & Sustained Support! The intensity of Russian reaction may increase.

Got assured economic & arms support.

Reward for dogged resistance to Russia – Membership Action Plan – MAP requirement is dropped, inching closer to coveted NATO protection ring. Reuters reported that NATO countries also pledged its support for Ukraine for “as long as it takes”. The summit initiated a fast track process for invitation to alliance and sustained military and economic aid to survive.

NATO Secretary General Jean Stoltenberg categorical- ly said that the Ukraine’s inclusion is possible when NATO alliance (All 32 nations agrees to)agrees and conditions are met.

The Arms supply

From France – Long- range missiles. Range up to 250 km in significant numbers. From United Kingdom – 70 combat and logixtic vehicles, ammunition for Challenger 2 tanks, 50 million pounds for repair. Romania – (F-16 training for Ukraine – 11 nation coalition to train Ukrainian pilots for F-16 flying), training center in Romania. From Germany – 700 million Euro military aid package – two Patriot launchers, 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, unspecified battle tanks, and ammo. From Norway – Increased in military aid to 10 billion Crowns this year – (Reuter)

There may be an increase in the intensity of attacks against Ukraine as the NATO inclusion will be after the war ends only. Will the grain deal suffer now over the inclusion of Sweden and Finland into NATO,  only times can tell. Land of Ukraine is the only European land that is, though assisted by EU and NATO, sadly left to war at. Presently,  the 32 countries of NATO are1. Albania 2. Belgium 3. Bulgaria 4. Canada 5. Croatia 6. Czech Republic, 7. Denmark, 8. Estonia, 9. Finland,10. France, 11. Germany, 12. Greece 13. Hungary 14. Iceland 15. Italy 16. Latvia 17. Lithuania 18. Luxembourg 19. Montenegro 20. Netherlands 21. Norway 22. Poland 23. Portugal 24. the Republic of Macedonia 25. Romania 26. Slovakia 27. Slovenia 28. Spain 29. Sweden 30. Turkey 31. United Kingdom 32. United States. Russia’s European borders are surrounded by Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine, and Georgia (though, on the intersection of Eastern Europe and Western Asia, regarded as part of Europe).

The NATO countries on Russia’s European border.

Finland Estonia, Latvia, are NATO members and as far as Georgia is concerned, NATO’s Madrid summit in 2022, already endorsed it by a set of tailored support measures, as one of NATO’s partner most directly affected by external threats and interference in the current security environment resulting from Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

The meaning is clear. On the European side, Russia is surrounded by NATO. Russia’s ally Belarus is bordered by Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Ukraine. All NATO. One of the main reasons for Russian aggression against Ukraine was the expanding orbit of NATO and West. And, the Russian accession of Crimea in 2014 was a reaction to Ukrainian inclination towards EU and denial to Pro Russian former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. What the beleaguered Russia on European front may up to only approaching times can tell. The Russian invasion of Ukraine is still not spilled out of the Ukrainian borders, and perhaps it is the only consoling fact in these uncertain times.

A Success before Summit but, perhaps,  indicating Ukraine Entry may still put on hold. (The opinion piece written before Summit started.)

Today’s NATO summit in Vilnius in Lithuania attends to a summit prior summit with NATO Secretary- General Jens Stoltenberg who is on a extended career mode, Defence Minister of Turkey Yasar Guler and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf  Kirstersson attending. Finland, the co-applier with Sweden already given green signal and  Hungary alone left now, protesting Swede entry into NATO! Today’s summit will also listen to a day by day aggressive NATO’s plan to contain Russia. But if Biden’s recent statement is any indication then Ukraine’s entry into NATO amidst war is perhaps not imminent. The scarecrow raised by Russia guarding the field handsomely

Jean Stoltenberg’s persistence along with carrot of EU entry to Turkey perhaps succeeded in persuading Erdogan for the Swedish entry. “I’m glad to announce that President Erdogan has agreed to forward the accession protocol for Sweden to the grand national assembly as soon as possible, and work closely with the assembly to ensure ratification”, He said after the meeting.

Does it mean that, outlawed Turkey organization Kurdistan Workers Party PKK now free from its branding as terrorists not only by Turkey but by the US and EU also?  Bulgaria and Greece are Turkey’s European Union member states along its border and Turkey is slated to further negotiate the grain movement with Russia.

EU and the US both have time to time referred to Erdogan’s heavy hand dealing in internal politics in the past and his other interference Is it synonymous with EU charter now? Only times will tell and future beholds in these events so the prophecies for the future are hidden in this ‘lost times chronicle’
