Navalny- silenced at last!

conversation between the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Russian president Vladimir Putin in 2021. This was during the final visit of Ms Merkel to  Russia on a day coinciding with the day Navalny’s poisoning.

Alexey Navalny, 47, the only voice in the Russian opposition politics, was silenced last Friday at the ‘Polar Wolf’ prison, Arctic Penal colony, some 1900 Kms northeast of Moscow. He was survived by his mother,  his wife Yulia, and two kids… and countless Russians and democracy followers across the world.
A former lawyer with Bright shining eyes and a smiling countenance which rarely altered in the face of constant deadly threats. 

His wife Yulia said if the news about his death is true then ” I want Putin, his entire entourage, Putin’s friends, his government to know that they’ll bear responsibility for what they did to our country, to my family, to my husband.

The US president Joe Biden minced no words and was very direct in his reaction.
“We don’t know exactly what happened, but there’s no doubt that the death of Navalny was a consequence of something that Putin & his thugs did. Russian authorities are going to tell their own story, but make no mistake. Putin is responsible for Navalny’s death. “
He was the founder of the anti-corruption foundation and carried out sting operations to expose corruption  in  oil companies  banks by becoming their member.
His blog, accompanied by self drawn cartoons, was popular, and his YouTube channel has 3.5 million subscribers. When the Russian president is yet to encroach upon Crimea and busy in world affairs, Navalny starts to expose him and his political coterie’s pompous lifestyle.

He made viral the huge palatial bungalow of Putin on the Black Sea. He participated in 2018 elections, and the formidable challenge that he thrown was evident in opening up as many as 81 regional headquarters across Russia. A number of criminal cases filed against him made him unable to participate in the elections. The European Court of Human Rights annuled his sentences. His wings are systematically clipped, and many of his senior colleagues were outlawed and had to take shelter in Europe.

His courage was unshakable even after a poisoning attack was made on him. Though everyone was aware of the dangers awaited him in returning back to Russia,  he stayed defiant and returned back to Russia.

A huge international cry rose after the news of his suspicious death spread. His supporters arranged meetings, march,protests in London, Paris,Oslo  Rome, Brussels Betlin, Genev  Prague, Yerevan,  Tbilisi & Vilnius.
