Election commission officials with Chief Election Commissioner are visiting J&K. The Supreme Court of India had directed the election commission to hold elections in the valley by September 2024. These are the first elections after abrogated article 370 of the constitution to remove special status accorded to Jammu and Kashmir. The region is divided into Union Territories.
