The ban came after X failed to comply with the deadline set up by the court to appoint a legal representative in Brazil.
In April, Judge Alexander De Moraes ordered suspension of more than dozens of X accounts for spreading disinformation.
BBC quotes Musk’s reaction as ‘Free speech is the bedrock of democracy and an unelected pseudo-judge in Brazil is destroying it for political purposes.’

The Evolution of Twitter to X
Twitter, a microblogging platform launched in 2006, became a global phenomenon, revolutionizing the way people communicate and consume news. However, in 2022, the platform underwent a significant transformation when it was acquired by tech mogul Elon Musk.
Key milestones in the transition from Twitter to X:
* Acquisition: Musk purchased Twitter in October 2022 for $44 billion.
* Rebranding: In July 2023, Musk announced that Twitter would be rebranded to X. The iconic blue bird logo was replaced with a simple “X” symbol.
* Domain Change: The platform’s URL was officially changed from twitter.com to x.com in May 2024.
* Vision for the Future: Musk envisions X as an “everything app,” a platform that can handle various functions beyond social media, such as payments, banking, and more.
Reasons for the Rebranding:
* New Vision: Musk’s acquisition was driven by a desire to transform Twitter into a more ambitious platform.
* Symbolism: The letter “X” holds significance for Musk, as it was the name of his early online business, X.com.
* Breaking Free from the Past: The rebranding was seen as a way to distance the platform from its previous identity and embrace a new direction.
The transition from Twitter to X has been met with mixed reactions. While some users have embraced the changes, others have expressed concerns about the platform’s future and the impact of Musk’s leadership. As X continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how this rebranding will shape the future of social media.

Latest reaction by Elon Musk
There is growing evidence that fake judge @Alexandre engaged in serious, repeated & deliberate election interference in Brazil’s last presidential election.
Under Brazilian law, that would mean up to 20 years in prison.
And, I’m sorry to say that it appears that some former Twitter employees were complicit in helping him do so.Link to post on X below
