US & Britain in the 1930s exploited oil reserves in Iran and afterward were successful in pro – West governments in Iran. It was broken in 1979 when Iranian hardliners Islamists were able to declare Iran an Islamist Republic and pro-west ruler – Shah fled Iran and soon after Iranian students attacked US consulate and held the Americans there captive for more than 400 days. America agreed to all Iranian conditions, and the hostages were freed. Since then, the Iranian presence and dominance in the Middle East irritated the US.
At this point, it is interesting to know that Iran was almost a ‘superpower ‘ in older times , and Iran was also known by other names – Persia. The Persians were overcame by newly formed Islam, and soon, all Iran became Muslim. (The Persian culture is still intact in Iran and Israel, and the US is trying to rejuvenate that Persian spirit to topple Khamenei controlled government and effect a power transfer)
A Shia nation of Iran afterwards is always challenged by Sunni dominated Middle-East. Saudi Arabia and other nations and Iran were at cross roads. Iran’s military power was always a cause of concern in that area. Syrian Assad regime helped by Iran. US is always accused that Hezbollah, Houthis, and Hamas, like groups, are supported by Iran .The majority of the Middle-East nations are anti Israel and anti-American. But the US has backed Saudis and Israrl too and was successful in bringing these anti Israel and pro – Palestine nations to enter into Abraham’s accord to isolate Iran further. The nuclear program that was started by Iran somehow halted by Obama diplomacy, but after Donald Trump assumed presidency, the US has walked out the deal, reimposing sanctions. The genocide in Palestine has gone unilaterally without any substantial resistance by Muslim countries and encouraged Israel to attack Iran when it is nearly isolated. Syria – a new Al-Sharaa interim government is there . And, that hardly supports Iran. Saudis and Iran are always at loggerheads to dominate the Middle East. Turkey cannot oppose US. US and Russia ; US and China; US and Iran are against each other . Russia might stay nutral. To isolate Iran from the Muslim world further , the US blatantly sided with Pakistan. Turkey and Pakistan are friends. It was Turkey supremo Erdogan who, with Saudi King, introduced Syrian Al-Sharra , the transient Syrian president with the US president, and helped lift sanctions against Syria. Geopolitics is taking a very nasty turn, and humankind must be very cautiously guarded humanity and precious human life.
